Injectable dermal fillers, also known as facial fillers use a natural gel to smooth out wrinkles, folds or scars to give your face and lips a younger, refreshed more plumped and smoother appearance.
Dermal fillers are one of the most popular facial rejuvenation treatments and are highly effective at reversing ageing with instant results and virtually no down-time.

How do Dermal Fillers work?

scroll-grey

Dermal Fillers have a ‘plumping’ effect on skin and as a result reducing the signs of ageing skin. Different fillers may achieve desired effects in slightly different ways, but the result is that the skin will look more youthful and refreshed.

Dermal fillers work as replenishment for the natural collagen which has been rendered less effective by the ageing process and in response adds volume, increases hydration and reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Dermal Fillers are ideal for:

 Reducing unwanted folds

 Lessening Wrinkles

 Replacing volume

 Firming skin

 Improving skin elasticity

More advanced use can aid jaw lines and help give a fuller face.

Dermal Fillers are specially formulated for skin revitalisation that work by improving skin elasticity and skin tone and adding hydration. Skin is instantly revitalised with a visible improvement in texture and tone.

The effects of Dermal fillers treatments usually last for 9-12 months. Most clients have top-ups when they feel the effect is starting to diminish i.e. any time between 6 and 12 months. With repeated treatments the effects often last longer.

Dermal Fillers FAQs

ARE DERMAL FILLERS RIGHT FOR ME?
Dermal fillers are injections used to fill out wrinkles and creases in the skin.  They can also be used to increase volume and definition especially of the lips and corners of the mouth.  This type of treatment helps to restore volume to the face by physically filling wrinkles and depressions in the skin.  The fillers are made from a variety of synthetic variation of natural body material called hyaluronic acid. These are non-permanent and safe.
WILL I FEEL ANY PAIN?
Unlike traditional procedures, such as surgical face lifts or implants, this treatment requires no cuts, incisions or stitches.  It may involve some light pain or discomfort.  Clients describe it as tiny scratches as the needle goes in, with a slight stinging sensation as the filler is applied.

For those feeling anxious, we can use a numbing cream or, especially for lips, we can use local anaesthetic to make the area completely numb, which as qualified dentists we are also highly skilled at administering.  Afterwards there may be some swelling or bruising.  The swelling fades within 48 hours, the bruising can take up to a fortnight.

WHAT DOES DERMAL FILLER TREATMENT INVOLVE?
Small amounts of dermal filler are injected directly into the skin using an ultrafine needle. After cleansing the area to be treated, a numbing cream will be applied. For better anaesthesia we can administer local anaesthetic as we would for a dental injection to provide full pain relief.

The gel administered helps to plump up the skin to smooth out lines and wrinkles. If the lips or facial contours are being treated, the filler adds volume, restores shape and gives a fuller, fresher appearance.

Dermal filler treatments are only carried out by a fully qualified medical professional in our modern, regulated and well-equipped clinic.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?
Afterwards, there might be a small amount of swelling which will quickly subside. Depending on the area treated, it usually takes no longer than 30 minutes and you can leave the clinic as soon as you are ready to do so.
WHAT IS YOUR AFTER TREATMENT ADVICE?
No recovery time is required after dermal filler treatment and you can return to day to day activities straight away. You may experience some slight swelling or bruising to the area being injected and typically doesn’t last longer than 48 hours. We will discuss your recovery and what to expect when you attend you appointment.
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TREATMENTS?
Dermal Filler treatment is non-permanent but benefits from the advantage of producing long lasting results, often in excess of a year, depending on your requirements.
